The Vocal Department

The department trains singers in the various fields of vocal music — opera, Lieder, and oratorio — in a range of languages and styles. Each student receives voice lessons and training in accompaniment.

Every year, the department’s Opera Workshop presents several performances together with the chamber ensemble or the Academy Orchestra, and students receive acting lessons. Students in the department study three foreign languages — German, Italian, and French — as well as several specialized courses, such as Vocal Music Literature, the Art of Lied Singing, and piano studies.

An additional track offers vocal studies in Baroque music.
